Thank you for considering the Hastings YMCA Preschool for your child. The YMCA is committed to helping our students develop values and behavior that are consistent with Christian principles. The preschool years are important foundation years in a child’s life. It is our goal as teachers to help each child grow spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually. We look forward to working together as a team, with you the parent, and the teachers, to have this be a positive experience for your child.
We have professional and highly trained staff dedicated and focused on providing a nurturing environment with outstanding curriculum activities. Not only will your children receive enrichment activities, but they'll also get the unique opportunity to participate in sports and health and wellness activities, and free swim lessons all taught by professionals at the YMCA.
Need to drop your kids off early so you can get to work on time? Pre care is available for the 5 day classes between 7:30 am - 8:15 am for an additional monthly charge.
Extended afternoon care is available after class up until 6:00 pm. Includes lunch, enrichment activities, rest time, and snack.
Post care is available for parents who need a late pick-up time after class but does not have their kids signed up for afternoon extended care. Late pick-up (post-care) is available until 12:10 pm.
The YMCA does not have preschool when Hastings Public Schools are out. On these days we still offer full day care.
In 2020 The Hastings Family YMCA has enrolled in "Step up to Quality" through the Nebraska Department of Education. The Step up to Quality program is a child care rating system to ensure we are offering the highest quality of child care to families.
LEAD TEACHER
I love teaching preschool because the kids bring such joy into each and every day. They are so excited to come to school. It is a privilege to watch them grow and learn. I love teaching at the Y because of the families I've met and gotten to know, and because of the dedication to the children in our community. I was lucky enough to have many wonderful teachers throughout my education that I am now dedicated to giving my preschoolers a loving classroom environment. My hope is that they love preschool and just can't wait to come back every day!
LEAD TEACHER
I love being a preschool teacher because I have the opportunity to build positive relationships with my students and their families while knowing that I make a difference in their lives, I am free to teach Bible lessons and say the Pledge of Allegiance, and my day is NEVER boring! I also have the privilege of working with a great team of early childhood educators. Knowing that I am a part of a family/community driven organization that is fully supportive of furthering the education of both students and staff, makes it easy to come to work each day with a smile on my face and joy in my heart!
LEAD TEACHER
I enjoy teaching because of the relationships I get to build with each child and their families, as well as having the opportunity to help and watch my students grow as learners and individuals.
I enjoy working at the YMCA because it allows me to be apart of a community that encourages the developement of youth.
