Starting in February 2022, Rebecca Johnson set out to lose 100 pounds in one year! She was almost there and needed to lose 40 more pounds to reach her goal.
“I was lacking the support, motivation and the accountability. I was getting discouraged and lost focus and falling back into old behaviors. I did not want to gain back all the weight that I had already lost. I needed a new perspective to get back on track and over this hump I had been on.”
Rebecca decided that she needed help losing those last 40 pounds. After reaching out to the YMCA’s Personal Trainer, Caleb Hahne in November, 2022, Rebecca has almost 4 months left before her one year goal.
“When I came to a fork in the road of my journey, I figured what do I have to lose? I reached out to Caleb about Personal Training and have never regretted my decision. The only thing I regret is why I didn’t do this sooner!
The weight I had lost was mainly from my diet. The only exercise was from being on my feet and moving around at work. I knew that at some point I would have to physically exercise and had no idea where to even begin.”
Rebecca has been a long time member of the YMCA and her family has been involved in different programs and activities. “I love the community and family-orientated atmosphere of the YMCA and the variety of options that are available.”
Rebecca shared that she has bad knees and explained to Caleb the physical limitations she has. Caleb was very knowledgeable and knew exactly how to modify exercises for Rebecca.
“Trainers work with all kinds of people and are able to create a workout routine that works on the areas you need while dealing with chronic limitations. Don’t think that you cannot exercise due to a physical limitation or injury. There is always a workaround or a modification that can be done. And a trainer has the knowledge to help.”
Rebecca had a few weeks left to complete her 100 pounds in one year goal. “I remember 2-3 weeks before, I honestly did not think I could do it. Caleb believed in me more than I did myself. I was ecstatic when I reached my 100 pounds 3 days before my anniversary.
A trainer is so much more than just a fitness coach. A trainer wears many different “hats”. They are there to improve your fitness but they also care about your well-being.”
Rebecca is still setting goals for herself and finding fitness challenges to be involved in. She plans to complete her first 5K in almost 10 years this Summer! She also loves encouraging and helping others in their weight loss journey. Rebecca started a Facebook group where she shares recipes and meal ideas for others.
We are thrilled for Rebecca and her amazing accomplishment! We know Rebecca has encouraged so many others to take control of their health and achieve their goals!
