The Hastings YMCA offers non-competitive youth sports programs and leagues for ages 3 and up. Our youth sports programs provide children the opportunity to enhance their social, cognitive and physical skills by practicing and playing organized games that promote sportsmanship on and off the field.
All leagues are available to novice and experienced players alike. The Sports division beleives that all kids should have equal playing time while having fun and enjoying the game. All leagues are coached by VOLUNTEER COACHES.
Teams are selected by Hastings YMCA Staff based on gender and age. Teams will have 1 practice a week and play 6 games in 4-6 weeks depending on the sport and are coached strictly by VOLUNTEER coaches.
Taught by experienced coaches who have either played or coached the sport at highly competitive level.
Rookies- Introduces the game by focusing on the rules and equipment invovled. Fun, interactive games are played to gain the interest of each particpant. Some Clinics require parent participation.
Basics- Expands the participant's knowledge of the sport while focusing on improving the skills through use of drills.
