About the Vertins...

Between July 2010 and August 2011, young brothers Max (6), Rowen (3), and Charlie Vertin (1) were diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).  Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disease that causes the gradual deterioration of muscles.  It is caused by an absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscles intact.  This disorder first causes general weakness and muscle wasting in the hips, pelvic area, thighs and shoulders, and eventually weakens the heart and breathing muscles.  Young men with Duchenne typically live into their late twenties.  Because there is no cure, many young men lose the battle even sooner.

The family travels to Cincinnati, Ohio to see specialists.  Monies raised are in support Jason and Betty Vertin and People's Project for Muscular Dystrophy.

Frozen Turkey Trot Family Edition - November 17, 2012

Family Edition Turkey Trot is a great way to get into the holiday spirit and bring the family together.  Through teamwork, each family carries a frozen turkey throughout the 5K (3.1) mile course.  The only rule is the turkey must be carried in hand, in a backpack or sling (please do not bring a shopping cart or stroller for the turkey, reserves strollers for the kiddos.) Throughout the couse, you may pick up other items for your Thanksgiving Feast: dinner rolls, green beans, pumpkin pie, potatoes, gravy packets etc... Not that hungry?  Pick the items up anyway and earn them for another family (we will make sure your "earned" items get donated to the local food pantry.)  All Family members will recieve a t-shirt for participating. All Families need to register by November 14.  No race-day will be accepted to ensure enough food is available for the event.  Event will begin at 8am.

Registration Form available August 1, 2012

Online Registration will open August 1, 2012
