YMCA FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN ENHANCES HASTINGS
(Hastings, Nebraska) October 10, 2011 – The Hastings Family YMCA kicked of its Annual Support Campaign on Tuesday, October 4th at a 12:00 PM luncheon at the Garden Café. The purpose of the campaign is to ensure that no individual is ever denied the opportunity to participate in YMCA programs or activities due to lack of financial resources. Every penny of every dollar invested in the YMCA Annual Support Campaign goes to building stronger kids and stronger families in our community. This year, the Hastings Family YMCA has set a goal of $80,000 for the Annual Support Campaign.
Last year, the Hastings YMCA served more than 10,000 individuals in the Hastings area and awarded more than $70,000 in scholarships to low income families and individuals in our community. The YMCA also gave away an additional $70,000 in programs and services to other organizations and non-profits in our community.
The YMCA is proud to be a leader in three important areas, focusing on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. In addition to serving the community through the Annual Support Campaign, the Hastings YMCA has always been about strengthening the foundations of our community.
Dr. David and Mrs. Cindy Biehl, owners of Heartland Veterinary Supply in Hastings, have graciously agreed to serve as this years’ campaign chairs. The Hastings YMCA conducts our Annual Support Campaign to help sustain the various programs and services it provides for the community, including its scholarship program. The Biehls addressed over a dozen YMCA staff and volunteers spearheading the campaign and spoke about how important the YMCA has been to them as members of the community.
YMCA Executive Director, Michael Krings said, “The Biehl’s are very well respected business owners and leaders in our community. Over the years, they have benefitted from the Hastings Family YMCA through the development of their children, and they felt it was important to support the campaign that makes those programs possible for everyone in the community.”
